Fabulous Animals
at Historical Museum in Oslo
(2021)
The exhibition “Fabulous Animals” invites visitors on a magical journey back to Iron Age Scandinavia, a time when a different relationship with animals characterised people’s beliefs and notions and influenced the beautiful artefacts they created, used and surrounded themselves with.
To create the right atmosphere for the exhibition, visitors are greeted by an animation where the main jewellery pieces levitate out of darkness and by subtle light streaks reveal their detailed beauty and high end craftsmanship. As the animation evolves, spirit animals are revealed in the pieces, connecting their true function hidden behind the aesthetics. In four showcases along the exhibition walls the physical relics are shown in conjunction with holographic 3D animations. The animations illustrate and bring to life the myths, animals and warriors carved into the ornate relics.
