City-born Beings 1.0
Seoul
(2022)
“City-born Beings 1.0” is an exhibition that explores the interaction between Spot, a four-legged autonomous robot from Boston Dynamics, and its surroundings. The exhibition features a screen on one end displaying humans, pets, and animals engaging in usual activities, while on the other end, the audience represents real human interaction
.
Through different interactions between Spot, stock footage, and the audience, the exhibition asks viewers to contemplate the evolving relationship between humans and robots, particularly in the context of companionship and societal integration.
Every 30 minutes, Spot has to charge its batteries and dive into a dream state. The screen transforms into data dreams, displaying visualizations of all the pet names, locations, and animal funeral houses in Seoul City.
