Leges Motus
at Printemps Nordique at Place des Arts
(2018)
Leges Motus (the laws of motion) is a video installation, custom made for the 35 screens that constitute Place des Arts' public video wall 'la Mosaïque' in Montreal.
The piece ran non stop for a month during the 'Printemp Nordique' series of events which focussed on artists from the arctic and nordic regions and was shown periodically on the wall until 2021.
The complex 3D animation was inspired by childhood memories of watching MTV, Edward Muybridge's pioneering studies on animal locomotion, and the bustling path where the video wall is located, seen by 30,000 people daily.
